What Did You Expect?

The answer to that one, little question is an important one. I am learning that having clear and realistic expectations can make life a lot smoother.

Have you ever read restaurant reviews for inexpensive, fast food restaurants? They are funny to me. People talk about terrible service at 3:30am. What exactly do you expect from someone willing to work for minimum wage in the middle of the night? If you are expecting a cheerful, eager to serve drive thru attendant, you will most likely be disappointed. Who cares if the drive thru person at 3:30am isn’t friendly. At least you are able to roll up on your way home from a night on the town and get a hot meal. That is pretty amazing and usually needed at that hour!

If you choose to stay in a 3 star hotel thinking it will be similar to a 4 or 5 star hotel, I bet you will have a complaint. What if you adjusted your expectations on what a 3 star hotel will be like? If you go into the stay with realistic expectations, you will be less disappointed.

One thing we can all do is try to exceed the expectations we have of ourselves. Raise the bar, aim higher and make sure you aren’t deserving of a one star review from yourself!

MARKET STATS

Months of inventory grew again in July, reaching a 2.5-months supply. That is the highest level since August of 2020 when it was 2.6 months. Housing inventory nationally stands at a 3.0-months supply, according to the latest NAR report.

A 6.0-months supply is generally considered a “balanced market,” in which neither the buyer nor the seller has the upper hand.

HAPPENING IN HOUSTON
