Class Is In Session

Today is the day that most kids return to school. I remember the first day jitters, not sleeping the night before and stressing about my outfit. And then there is the hair! I had “wings.” For those of you that don’t know what that means, it is a hairstyle where you make the front of your hair feather back, like a bird’s wings. If you did have them, please send me a pic! Getting your wings to look perfect was hard and I can recall the maximum effort I put into getting mine just right.

Much like a new calendar year, a new school year is a chance to start fresh. I’ve ordered shiny new binders, highlighters, dividers and pens in hopes that my kids will use them to stay organized. The chances are slim, but if I provide them year after year, maybe one day they’ll make the decision to Kona Mari their backpack. Just because they were unorganized last year doesn’t mean they will stay that way forever. Keep offering the tools, you never know when they may use them.

If your usually happy kiddo comes home and acts out, that probably means that they have held it together all day and feel safe enough at home to show their true feelings. My non-professional but highly educated by therapists self says to treat them with compassion. If they are throwing a fit about a bag of chips, chances are it has nothing to do with the chips. Give them a hug and let them do the talking.

SHERMAN WILLIAMS COLORS OF 2023

According to AD, here are the latest trends in home paint color. The last couple years largely leaned into light, airy, natural color palettes. Now, as many get back to living life on their own terms without mandates or restrictions in place, Sherwin-Williams is plotting a new course with its Colormix Forecast for 2023.

CURRENTLY I’M…

… swapping my summer cut for a longer look. For those of you that know me, you know I’m always changing my hair. I like it both ways, but I think long hair is more flattering.

What do you think? Should I k

eep the chop or grow it long?
