Mondays with Marnie | Heart Wrenching Loss

No Words

This will be short and sweet.

Our community is grieving the loss of John Hilgert, a Freshman at Memorial High School. He was one of the eight people killed at The Houston Astroworld Concert Tragedy. Families gathered Sunday evening at Memorial High School to support John’s family and each other.

The tragedy is unfathomable. How can a few kids and a parent head out to a concert and not make it home alive? Seeing John’s grief stricken family left me wondering how any parent survives the loss of a child.

He was 14yrs old, kind, athletic and had a long life ahead of him. The parents and students in our community are stunned, heart broken and confused. It will be a long road of healing.

I pray for everyone touched by John’s passing. John’s coach said, “John was committed to being the best version of himself.” Let’s all pick that up where it was left off. Let’s all commit to being the best version of ourselves in honor of John.

Hug your kids extra tight tonight. Be there for each other. Let people in your life know that you love them.

Hugs,

MG
