ANTS IN MY PANTS.

My family gave me the nickname of “The Now Woman” a long time ago. If I said, “should we make cookies?” I meant right this second, not sometime in the next half hour. Once I had an idea, you can be sure it was already becoming a reality. I have never spent time doubting myself, worrying about the outcome or procrastinating. I still have “the now woman” personality but have learned to slow my roll.

Right now, I am seriously considering cutting my hair short, throwing away everything in my closet and starting over, getting a different car, starting another business and selling my house. Good Lord. This is a lot!Thirty years ago, I would accomplished all of this in one day, max two days. At the ripe old age of 52, this is when I do absolutely nothing. My hair stays long, I wear the same ‘ole clothes, gas up the car I have had one year and order stationary with my current address as the return label just to show my commitment.

This shift is mostly because I’m fricking tired. While all of this sounds exciting, it also sounds like a lot of work. I try to imagine how my life will be different if I act on any of these ideas. The only difference is adding more to my plate, my to do list and my financial obligations. I have four kids. I am not lacking in to-do lists or financial obligations.

The bottom line is shit can wait and most of it doesn’t need to happen at all. Are you rushing to get pumpkins for your front porch? Guess what? Your life will be no different if you never get to that task. We are heading into the busiest season of the year. Family obligations, holiday parties, office parties and holiday shopping. It can be stressful, expensive and no fun if you let it. Think twice before you add something to your to-do list. Make sure it deserves a spot. Consider how your life will be different if it does, or does not happen. It is a perfect time to practice slowing your roll. This is not easy for me. I am a “now woman” and a get ‘er done kind of girl.Gotta go. I am running late to do nothing at all and you’ve probably got pumpkins to set out on the front porch!

I came across this list of 6 Tasks That Every Smart Homeowner Does in October and thought should share! This had helpful reminders from changing ceiling fan direction, to cleaning windows to soak up as much natural light as possible!
