When was the last time you…..

Went for a jog, talked to your parents, had a meal with your sibling, told someone you loved them, etc. Chances are, the last time you did one of those things, you were not thinking it would be the last time you did it. We blow through our days doing a lot of things without giving them much thought. I know that if I did consider that it may be the last time I did any of the things listed above, I would do it differently. If I knew the last meal I had with one of my siblings was indeed my last meal to have with them, I would certailnly not spend any of that time answering texts on my phone for work. I would put my phone away and be 100% present while I soaked up every second of the shared time with them. If I knew that the next time I went for a jog would be my last, I would probably add some distance, make sure I had the ideal playlist and notice the beauty all around me.

It would be extreme to treat each experience as if it were the last, but maybe we need to consider that it is one of the last times. We are not guaranteed anything in life. We hear stories of people full of regret about how they handled their last situation with someone who is no longer here. If they would have only known that was the last chance to be together, they would have certainly made sure to tell them how they feel and be sure to enjoy every moment.

This week, I am going to TRY to remember that everything could be the last time or at least the last time for a while. I’m not sure how that will impact each encounter or activity but I’m curious and look forward to finding out.
