It’s that time of year. We have our lists of people that we plan to buy for during the holidays and finding that perfect gift can be stressful. My kids usually ask me what I want for Christmas and I mean it when I say that I just want to be with them and for them to write me a card that I can read and save. I don’t want them to spend their money on buying me a gift, I want something more expensive, their time.

If you are racking your brain on what to get your parent or grandparent, I’d bet ya $100.00 that they would trade time spent with you for anything you could buy them from a store. There are some people that I would happily pay $50.00 to not have to spend my precious time with them. If I am spending my time with you, I like you, period. Life is too short to do it any other way. I know that my kids have a choice to spend time with me or not. The youngest is 18 and the oldest is 26. I feel beyond blessed that they like to be with me. (Or do a great job pretending that they do!)

If you want to be really generous this holiday, give someone the gift of your time. Plan a coffee date, pop by their house and help them wrap gifts or plan a night out on the town. We all need connection, especially around the holidays. It breaks my heart that so many people are lonely. If you find yourself alone this holiday, you’d be more than welcome to join in on our crazy family fun!
