Sh*t Storm

Well, you can say that again. This past week has been trying to say the least. I know several people who still don’t have power and internet is as rare as fine wine or caviar at this point. The damage around Houston is devastating. I can only guess how many trees were lost and how many homes are left with damage that will take many months to restore. Insurance is nice, but the deductibles are so high that it makes it almost impossible to not be significantly financially impacted from the storm.

Navigating FEMA assistance is not easy and seems almost impossible to qualify for help. In the real estate world, the storm caused us to be quite busy. Homes under contract with damage, clients needing temporary housing and helping our clients connect with trusted contractors has been the name of the game. I am grateful to have a list of plumbers, electricians and contractors that I know and trust. If you are struggling to find someone, don’t hesitate to ask me for a referral. While things are not quite back to normal at home, I am grateful for an office that is up and running.

If I can offer an idea for the week, it is this. Be patient and be kind. People are stressed beyond what is normally tolerated and you have NO idea what someone is going through as a result of the storm. I am sure the stress ranges from financial to family and everything in between. If there is anything my team can help with, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Wishing everyone a week of restoration topped off with some good ‘ole air conditioning!
