Mondays with Marnie | Oh, Sheri…

Growing Up is Optional.

Do you remember what it was like when you met “your person” outside of your family? This has happened to me several times and the feeling is an immediate connection. This beautiful pic of me in college is with my partner in crime, Sheri Creel (maiden name) Guyett. We still look like a version of this picture when we see each other today! We are still fun, silly, young at heart and always up for an adventure. The adventures we shared in college are some of my favorite memories.

When you’re on a budget, prioritizing the allocation of funds is important. Spending hard earned cash on toilet paper or salt and pepper seemed foolish. We took our toilet paper from Taco Bell and our salt and pepper shakers were from Wendy’s. They were the only fast food restaurant that used actual shakers. I’m pretty sure the employees saw us walk out with rolls of toilet paper but felt too embarrassed to stop us. We wanted house plants, but weren’t willing to buy those either. We lived across the street from a baseball player who was rarely home. He asked us to take care of his plants, so we decided to move them to our house to make sure they were happy and healthy.

These stories, and many more, keep us up late at night, laughing so hard that we cry. I love how pictures can do that. Sheri sent these to me last week and all of the sudden I was right there with her (if only in my mind.)

P.S. I’m not sure who’s idea those plaid shorts were, but lets just say that was a lapse in fashion judgement!

TEA IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

MARKET STATS

In Houston, inventory of existing and new single-family homes for sale is at its lowest since 1982, according to recent data from the National Association of Realtors. Homes for sale hit a historic low at the end of February and in 70% of metro areas, demand is outstripping supply.

HAPPENING IN HOUSTON

You know what Cinco de Mayo means….MARGARITAS! Here’s where to find my favorite margs in Houston:

  • Old faithful: Armandos
  • Feelin’ Something Fruity? Cafe Annie Watermelon Margarita or Superica Blood Orange Margarita
  • Looking for a 300 calorie black out instead of a 1500 calorie buzz? El Patio – Blue Margarita

And last, but not least, if you want to learn how to make a MARN-arita, watch here

WHAT’S COOKIN?
The girls in my office have been obsessing over the Trader Joes cauliflower gnocchi, so I had to give it a try. It is such an awesome, healtier alternative when you’re craving pasta! I paired it with the TJ Kale, Cashew, and Basil pesto.

CURRENTLY I’M…

… recommending you watch the movie Marriage Story on Netflix. An authentic portrayal of a marriage coming apart but a family staying together – no sugar coating here!
