How much do you tolerate that isn’t necessary?

I did a little life scan and realized that I have too many things on my list. What made me think of this was a tiny pebble that got into my shoe when i was jogging at Memorial Park. I felt it sneak its way into my shoe and thought it was annoying, uncomfortable and inconvenient.

The funny thing is that I didn’t stop to remove it. I ran the whole loop with the pebble in my shoe. Sometimes, if I shook my foot or landed in a certain way, I couldn’t feel it but I knew it was there, lurking around the corner to annoy me and cause a little bit of discomfort.

Why didn’t I stop and remove the tiny rock from my shoe? Who the heck knows! It made me realize that I have a high tolerance for pushing through uncomfortable situations. I probably power through more than I should. It can be something as small as a tiny pebble but several tiny pebbles can start to feel like a boulder.

Here’s what I’m thinking. Maybe if I stop to remove the tiny pebbles in my life as they show up, I won’t get to the feeling of being crushed by a boulder. Whatever your pebble may be, remove it unless it’s absolutely necessary. Trust me, I won’t run another 3 miles with a rock in my shoe. Lesson learned.
