Mondays with Marnie | NO-vember

I have been familiar with No Shave November for a while but recently heard another good one. It is NO-vember. November is a month that, if you’re anything like me, feels like that wild ride down the last big hill of a roller coaster. You can see the holidays looming on the horizon, and you’re gripping onto that safety bar for dear life, just trying to

survive the rest of the year without losing your mind (or your sanity).

But before we get swept up in the whirlwind of holiday madness, November is our last, best chance to catch our breath and reset. And I’m here to tell you that it’s also the perfect time to embrace the magical power of a little word we don’t use enough: NO. That’s right, friends. November is officially the “Month of No.”

Why, you ask? Because if we’re going to make it through December with our joy (and our pants) still fitting, we need to start trimming the excess right now. And I’m not talking about those pumpkin spice cookies you can’t resist. I’m talking about saying “no” to the people, activities, and commitments that don’t serve you.

The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, warmth, and connection—not a marathon of obligations that leave you feeling drained and disconnected from yourself. By using November to say “no” to the things that don’t serve you, you’re gifting yourself the bandwidth to actually enjoy the season.

So, this month, let’s embrace the “November No.” Use this time to clear the clutter from your calendar, focus on what fills you up, and protect your energy like it’s the last slice of pumpkin pie. Because, honestly, you deserve to enter the holidays feeling more like your best self and less like a stressed-out elf.
