Mondays with Marnie | My Face Hurts!

My Face Hurts

Don’t worry, it’s a good thing!

While I wish it were from having a little nip and tuck, that isn’t the case. It hurts from something really simple, which is a lot of laughing. I spent this past weekend on a girl’s trip for a dear friend’s birthday. There were fourteen of us all staying in the same house. I will admit that I was a little nervous about being with that many women for three nights. I knew some more than others at the beginning and got to know some a whole lot better. Cabo San Lucas was the destination and fun was the plan.

We went to fun restaurants, relaxed by the pool, danced amongst the youngsters in the clubs and laughed until my face hurt. I was always the last to leave the dance floor and had to be convinced it was time to go home at 2:00 in the morning. It felt like 9pm to me!

Mostly, this trip reminded me the importance of laughing and friendship. It had been a while since I’d spent days just enjoying friends and having fun. We need that. I recently saw a post on Instagram where Michelle Obama speaks about the importance of friendship and how it should not fall so far behind the roles of spouse and mother. I can honestly say that I will show up as a better mom, sister, business woman and person this week. I feel lighter and have a deeper appreciation for the love and laughter I shared with so many.

If you are looking for a summer goal, I suggest putting laughing more on the list. Intentionally put yourself in situations and around people that make you laugh until your face hurts.

It hurts so good.
