Mondays with Marnie | Miss Independent

Miss Independent

I bet every country would love to be known as this Kelly Clarkson song title, Miss Independent. Unafraid, self sufficient, on her own and confident. I am especially grateful to be in this country and my heart breaks for all of the unrest and war around the world.

We get a vote when most people around the globe do not have a say. I get to dress as I please, attend the church of my choice, have as many kids as I choose, work where I please, and the list goes on and on. It isn’t lost on me that we have millions of Americans who sacrifice and put their own lives on the line for us to have the precious freedom that we all enjoy. I’d like to say Thank YOU to all of the men and women that keep us safe and free.

Happy 4th of July to you and your family. I hope you get to escape to a pool, lake, or even cooler weather somewhere. It is getting hot in our beloved Houston and the summer is just getting started. I have decided to take a last minute trip for a few days. It is always hard for me to leave town and I feel guilty for missing work. However, what good is freedom if we don’t choose to put it to use every once in a while? Be safe and be grateful for this special holiday.
