Let The Games Begin!

There’s nothing quite like the Olympic Games. I personally love the summer games and am always surprised how quickly the four years between them goes by. Gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, swimming, diving, you name it, I love watching. These athletes are special. They are not just excellent at their sport, they have the one thing that keeps most people from reaching the top of their field. They WANT IT more than anything else. I know plenty of people who want to want it. They really do. They wish they wanted it because they know the talent is there, but the WANT IT is lacking. If that part is lacking even a tiny bit, you will not find yourself at the top of the top.

I did okay in school and that is all I wanted to do. I wanted to do well enough to get a degree and a good job. I could have made better grades, but in the end, I didn’t care that much. What I did want, was to go to The University of Texas and graduate in four years. That required me to work full time while in school and that was fine by me, because I WANTED IT and nothing was going to stop me from achieving my goal. I am just an okay driver at best, I have to budget in rims and tires because I hit so many curbs. Could I do better? Probably, but it is not important to me.

Congratulations to every athlete that has made it to these Olympic Games. The hours of practice and dedication that it took to get here is unfathomable to most people.

Another great thing to watch, is how the athletes of every country come together to support each other and become a team in many sports where they play against each other the rest of the year.

Where does your WANT IT live? What do you want so much that nobody or nothing can stand in your way? I think we all need to have something we care that much about. It is what can make us feel alive and give us a bigger purpose.
