Mondays with Marnie | Hey Swifties, What's the Big Deal?!

Whether you cried when the ticketing platform crashed, camped outside NRG to simply buy merch, went into debt to buy tickets or weren’t even aware she was in town, you probably know that Taylor Swift is undoubtedly one of the most popular and successful musicians of our time. But what is it about Taylor Swift that makes her so attractive?

I’ve done some digging and found that one of the main reasons people are attracted to Taylor Swift is her relatability. We feel like her friend as we listen to her songs about the ups and downs of relationships and life. She is honest and vulnerable.

Seems simple, sounds risky.

I’ve heard people say that she doesn’t have a good voice or “can’t sing.” Well, so what! She can do something that is becoming harder and harder to do. She makes people feel seen and heard and brings people together. In my opinion, this is huge. We all need to feel connected, validated and like we aren’t alone in our battles.

If I could be granted one talent, it would be to sing. Throw a little dancing in the talent bucket and I’d for sure be on a stage somewhere. The thing I would love the most about performing would be bringing people together. Since my voice has little to be desired, I can focus on the other traits that have made Taylor a world wide connector. She has always been known for her kindness, generosity, and humility.

For all of us, our office, home and community is our stage. Who would buy a ticket to your act? Are you making people feel seen or invisible? Do you pretend to have it all together for appearances? Scrap that. Turns out, honesty, vulnerability and kindness are what sells these days.

SUMMER CORN SALAD

I’ve been making a chopped summer corn salad recently and absolutely love it as a side dish. It’s refreshing, and simple:

– Corn (grilled & cut off the cob)

– Avocado

– Sliced cherry tomatoes

– Red onion

– Cubed Feta

– Olive Oil

– Apple Cider Vinegar

– Salt & Pepper

CURRENTLY I’M…

… trying to be better about having a snack on hand while I’m out and about showing houses. These are delicious, have protein and zero sugar. This is my favorite, but there are lots of different cheeses if gouda isn’t your jam.
