Let It Fall Away | Mondays with Marnie

Fall is coming. You can feel it in the early morning air — that subtle shift that tells us the season of shedding is near. Soon the trees will begin to let go of their leaves, one by one, without resistance or panic. They don’t fight it or cling to what once was; they simply trust the process.

It’s a beautiful reminder that nature is our greatest teacher when it comes to change. The trees don’t worry that they’ll never be full again. They trust that the leaves will come back — maybe even greener and stronger than before.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how this same idea applies to our own lives. We all have things that fall away — relationships, jobs, habits, seasons of life. Sometimes we can sense the change coming, and sometimes it feels like everything drops at once, leaving us feeling a little bare.

I saw something on Instagram that said, “God will never let what you lost be the best you ever had.” That stopped me in my tracks. It’s so true — but also so human to wish the new thing would show up before the old thing goes completely away. Wouldn’t that make it easier?

But that’s not how it works — not in nature, and not in life. The trees have to stand empty before they can bloom again. Maybe that’s where the real faith comes in — trusting that the bareness is only temporary and that what’s next will be even more beautiful.

So, as we move into fall, maybe we can all take a cue from the trees. Let go of what’s ready to fall away, trust the timing, and believe that what’s coming will fill your branches again — greener, stronger, and more full of life than before.

XX,
