We all love looking in the mirror and thinking, “I’ve got this health thing down.” You’re feeling strong, your jeans fit, and life is good, right? Well, hold up—just because you look healthy doesn’t mean your body isn’t throwing a secret party of low bone density and hidden fat. Enter: the DEXA scan, the brutally honest friend who tells you what’s really going on inside.

A DEXA scan checks your bone density and body composition, revealing if you’re the health rockstar you think you are—or if your bones are secretly brittle, and your muscles are on vacation. Just like you can’t trust the mirror, in life, you can’t always trust appearances.

Take the classic example: ever met someone at the gym who’s all muscles and Instagram-worthy? But then, a DEXA scan reveals they have weak bones or less muscle than you’d expect.
