Choosing The Right Fit | Mondays with Marnie

I’m in the market for a new car again. I lease my vehicles, so every three years or so, it’s time to make a new decision. You’d think by now I’d have it down to a science — but every time, it’s the same process: comparing, test-driving, weighing pros and cons.

There are a few things that matter to me. The car needs to look professional and It should be enjoyable to drive, because let’s face it, realtors spend a lot of time in our cars. And of course, it has to get me from point A to point B.

But here’s the truth: almost any new car will get me from point A to point B. Several options are fun to drive. Most of the ones I’d consider look professional. The decision ends up being about balance — not perfection. Which one checks enough boxes? Which one feels right, even if it’s not perfect on paper?

And isn’t that the way so many of life’s decisions work? Whether we’re choosing an employee, a partner, a house, or even a new direction in life — we rarely find something that checks every single box. Sometimes one thing shines in certain areas but falls short in others.

The key is knowing what matters most to you. What are your non-negotiables? What can you compromise on? And what simply feels like the right fit — even if you can’t quite explain why?

It’s easy to get stuck chasing perfection, but sometimes the “best” choice isn’t the one that has it all. It’s the one that aligns with who you are right now, what you need most, and where you’re headed next.

Just like picking a car, the right decisions in life aren’t always about finding the perfect option — they’re about finding the right fit for you.

(Maybe this is why I’m still single and haven’t chosen a car! lol)
