10 Days Until Christmas! Oh Boy!

Last week’s newsletter didn’t make it out, and for once, I have a very good excuse. I was traveling home from Remi and Marshall’s wedding in San Miguel de Allende and then promptly landed in bed with the flu. Apparently, trying to keep up with the younger crowd for three straight nights comes at a cost. Worth it—but still.

It truly took a talented team to pull off such a spectacular celebration. When Remi dreamed about her wedding, I’m certain she never imagined it would be as special, beautiful, and—most of all—as fun as it turned out to be. Three nights of celebration, laughter, dancing, and joy. Being by her side through it all was a gift I don’t take for granted for a single second.

I want to specifically thank my dear friend and wedding planner, Todd Fiscus of Todd Events. I’ve known Todd for over ten years, have witnessed countless events he’s created, and have long admired his work. When Todd touches something, it’s just different. No one has his vision, talent, or ability to execute with such precision. I told him from the beginning that we didn’t need to know every detail—that I trusted him completely to make it special and to make it feel like Remi. He did that and then some. The time, love, creativity, and care he poured into every detail did not go unnoticed by anyone. Having the wedding at his home, Hacienda Santa Ana, was truly the cherry on top.

Thank you to my dear friend Ceron, who was there to make sure Remi and I looked as beautiful as the party! He has known Remi since she was a little girl and we couldn’t imagine having the day without him by our sides. To everyone who traveled to celebrate with us—thank you. What a group. Too bad Remi and Marshall don’t have any fun friends. (Kidding, obviously.) The joy, energy, and love that surrounded them all weekend was something I’ll never forget.

While recovering this past week—flu, football, and all—I heard a commentator casually mention that there were ten days until Christmas Eve. Ten. Days. I have not bought a single gift. I don’t have a Christmas tree. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to pull this off. This holiday season may look a little different around here, and honestly, that’s okay.

Because one thing is certain: our family already received the best gift possible. We got to witness and share in the very beginning of Remi and Marshall’s life together. We did it all together, as a family. And that’s really what the holidays are about anyway.

I could go on and on—but I should probably start my holiday shopping if I want any chance of things arriving before Christmas Day.

XX,
