As different as we are from one-another, as unique as each one of us is, we are much more the same than we are different. That may be the most essential message of all this holiday season.
The whole world is experiencing the same thing for the first time. A holiday season in the midst of a global epidemic. The holidays have historically intensified any feelings already brewing under the surface. If you miss someone? Now you really miss them. If you act a little sassy towards someone? Now it’s full blown bitchy. You feel lonely? Now it feels like you live on Mars by yourself. If you find yourself losing patience, irritated, mad or jealous of someone, don’t do a damn thing. Sit with it. If you only give one gift to the people around you, give them a break. We’ve been pushed, pulled and spun around for about nine months. We all need it and it doesn’t cost a penny.
Slowing down has changed the way gifts look. For me, I am more aware of how little I actually need. The necessities can’t be bought online or at a store. I need to be connected to my friends and family. I need a roof over our heads, comfy beds, food and margaritas. (Yes, I buy the tequila and limes at a store, but you get the idea.) Short on cash? This is your year to own the gifting game. Here’s a sure fire gift that will be a huge hit! Even the pickiest people on your list will love it.
Write them a note. Tell them why they are special to you, what you admire about them, how they inspire you and thank them. Thank them for something they have done for you or just for being who they are. We are all different and we are all the same.
Let’s celebrate that!
TEA IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
In the month of November, average days on market fell from 59 to 46 compared to November of 2019. Historically low inventory levels showed a 2.2-months supply compared to 3.6 months the year prior.
POST OAK HOTEL
Not only is the decor adorable, so is their afternoon Holiday tea. If you haven’t been yet, you can go from 1-4 on December 26th or 27th. Make a res here!
LEARN THE LINGO
First time home buyers are often hit with a vocab lesson that they didn’t even know they needed. I came across this article that defines 6 words/ phrases that you may not know until you buy a house.
… starting my Christmas shopping! A little late to the game, I know. Last Friday, my office crew went on a field trip to support local shops. We have several awesome clients with fab stores and great gifts. This is an amazing community. If we support the people that support us, we will all thrive.
My dear friends, Susana Stern and Jessica Meyer are the fabulous mother-daughter duo behind BulletGirl. Their jewelry pieces blend strength with femininity by using reproduced bullets in their designs. If you are still looking for the perfect gift for her, this is a great place to check out! Don’t tell, but my girls have something under the tree from their latest collection.
